56017 awaits final scrapping at Toton. This was the third 56 withdrawn. It had collided with a class 31 at Ashby de la Zouch near Leicester on 12-11-91. Moved initially to Crewe, the loco ended up here at Toton for spares before being cut up on site in May1994. 6-9-92
The loco was only known to have worked two passenger trains; on the 27-11-88 it rescued the 11:10 Kings Cross to Leeds at Stoke summit to Doncaster and one railtour; "The InterCity Diesel Day" from Leicester to St Pancras and return on 21-5-89
